Angelina Jolie Conservative Image For St. John Knits
Angelina Jolie is the new face for the conservative suit-maker St. John Knits, in an attempt to change the company?s image, and maybe increase the sale, taking into account her popularity.
The company founded by Robert and Marie Gray has been represented by their daughter, Kelly Gray, for more than two decades.
Six years ago, the Grays sold the company to the New York-based Vestar Capital Partners Inc.
The luxury outfits are favored by important women like the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y..
Apparently, St. John will try to appeal to a younger generation and hope Angelina Jloies? presence is the sure path to greater success in the industry.
The company already known as one of fashion's most phenomenal success stories, has been in business for 42 years, and stands firmly established as a premier name in elegant knitwear around the world and is poised to enter an exciting new stage in its growth as an international corporation.
In the fashion industry, the story of St. John is legendary. It began in 1962 when a knitting machine inspired Co-Founder and Chief Designer Marie Gray, then a young fashion model, to design simple sleeveless dresses, first for herself, then for admiring friends.
As interest spread in the stylish designs, her entrepreneur fiance, St. John Honorary Chairman Robert Gray, recognized the strong business potential and began taking orders from specialty retailers. Almost overnight, St. John Knits was officially launched.
Over the years, the company has expanded far beyond anything the Grays envisioned during the early years when each new season was touch-and-go.
The fashion powerhouse now employs more than 5,000 people worldwide and operates dozens of offices and manufacturing facilities. Its six separate fashion lines are sold by top specialty stores in 28 countries and 32 company-owned retail boutiques. More articles:
